Sutil to Fight Criminal Charges from Lux

Adrian Sutil announced, through the voice of his manager Manfred Zimmerman, that he will fight any criminal proceedings issued by Genii Capital's chief executive Eric Lux in a court of law, should that be the case.

Late last week, reports in Germany and Italy had suggested that Sutil is looking to face EUR10 million compensatory payments for being involved in a violent incident with Lux in a Shanghai nightclub. It all took place during Lewis Hamilton's winning celebration party, when Lux was seen leaving a VIP room bleeding from his neck.

It all became official on Monday morning, when Lux's lawyer confirmed legal action will be taken against Force India driver Adrian Sutil, believed to be the “attacker” in the incident.

Mr Eric Lux has decided to file a criminal complaint against Mr Adrian Sutil for physical assault and grievous bodily harm,” said lawyer Dr Marc Henzelin in a statement. “As soon as the complaint is registered, the FIA and Force India will be notified,” he added, while revealing that his client “does not exclude commencing an action against any other persons involved in this matter.

Sutil himself admitted being involved in the incident that took place shortly after the Chinese Grand Prix, but insisted the whole scene was an accident. According to his manager, he will continue to state his innocence in any court of law.

In recent weeks Adrian has made several attempts to make contact with Mr Lux with no success,” said Zimmerman in a recent interview with the German media. “Should there be an indictment, we will fight it. Anyone who knows Adrian knows that he would not intentionally hurt anybody. When it comes to this injury, Adrian regrets it very much but it was an unfortunate accident with no intention.”
