Sutil Faces EUR 10 Million Compensation for Night Club Incident

Adrian Sutil's night out in Shanghai about a month back could cost the German a lot more than only his image in the media. As reported by several media during the past couple of weeks, the Force India driver was involved in a fight with Genii chief executive Eric Lux, as a result of which the latter suffered neck injuries.

Sutil allegedly attacked the Genii Capital man with a broken champagne glass, after which Lux was seen leaving the night club bleeding. Scars were seen on his neck 3 weeks later, in the Istanbul paddock, and quickly the media started pointing fingers at Sutil.

Now, according to Italiaracing, the German driver is facing a EUR 10 million damages claim from Lux, after the latter needed 24 stitches in his neck following the incident. And that's not all. Another report, this time coming from French website sport24.com, shows that Lux' lawyers have already filed a complaint on the matter with the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Although it was initially believed that the FIA would investigate the matter internally, German newspaper Bild claimed this past weekend that neither the governing body, nor F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, are looking into the matter. The only situation in which Sutil's F1 super license could be at risk would be if the German would be convicted in a civil court.

As far as the Force India driver is concerned, he has already confirmed his involvement in the scandal, but told the media that the matter is being addressed by him and the other party. His team also issued a public statement in which it admits its driver took part in the incident.
