Danny Trejo is this week’s biggest and most unexpected hero, after news got out that he witnessed a 2-car crash at an intersection in Sylmar, California, and rushed to help, eventually pulling a special needs kid out of the wreck, to safety.
The accident happened when a Toyota ran a red light and rushed into the intersection, hitting a Ford Explorer that had the right of way. Trejo previously told the media that the woman in the Toyota had pulled in right next to him and that he’d noticed that she wasn’t paying attention to the road. In a way, he had sensed that something was about to happen.
You can’t see Trejo’s car in the video available at the bottom of the page, but you can see that he was the first to rush to help. He’s the dude in the white tank top, who runs towards the wrecks as other cars are just then coming to a full stop. The video was obtained by ABC News from a nearby surveillance camera.
As for what happened next, Trejo has already spoken about it. He ran to the Explorer and saw that a kid was stuck in his carseat. He crawled inside the overtuned car and tried to release him, while also doing his best to keep the him from panicking.
They spoke about using their superpowers and their muscles to get out of this tough situation. Trejo was able to distract him long enough until another Good Samaritan, a woman, crawled inside through the other side and undid the kid’s seatbelt. Then, Trejo pulled him out and took him to safety.
The kid’s grandmother was also in the car and she was the first to get out.
Luckily, despite the serious crash, there were no serious injuries. The boy was spooked, but Trejo assured the media that he was able to calm him down, by talking to him and keeping him from seeing the wreck.
After this heroic save, the actor also had a word of advice for fellow motorists: pay attention to the road.
