Supertrucks Unveils New Citroen Relay-Based Space Van

Supertrucks will be showing off its latest incarnation of the competitively priced, award-winning, low-loading Space Van at the British 2011 CV Show, scheduled to take place between April 12 th and the 14th. The vehicle is based on the Citroen Relay and has just been added to the Citroen Ready to Run program.

This is designed as a low weight/high volume product delivery vehicle for companies involved in delivering furniture, domestic appliances, office equipment, bedding and other similar products. Thanks to the productivity-boosting walk-in storage area, loading is now more convenient and less time-consuming.

“The Space Van is ideal for furniture manufacturers, removal contractors, bedding manufacturers, retailers, office equipment and computer suppliers.  In addition, we see that there are many other applications for which the Space Van’s easy load accessibility and high cubic capacity will provide the ideal transport solution.  For instance we have also supplied Space Vans to local authorities, as glass carriers and also as an insulated version to a confectionery distribution company,”
explains Peter Wright, Supertrucks’ Chairman.

With optional rear air suspension installed, the Space Van has one of the lowest deck height/step height measurements available. Fully lowered, the van has a load deck height of just 370mm (14 in) and an associated step height of a mere 190mm (7.5 in).

This workhorse is based on a Citroen Relay 35 HDi 120 cab unit. This is paired up with unique custom-engineered alloy/steel drop frame, wide track rear chassis.

Prices start at £25,325 (without VAT and VED) for the Space Van, that is available in the UK with a extensive range of options including rear air suspension (£2,200 + VAT), flush fitting twin side hinged rear doors (£223 + VAT), a variety of side loading doors (roller shutter or hinged), load ramps and load restraint options.
