The Clio RS has a meaty aspirated 2-liter engine and a reengineered chassis, while Fiat fitted the Abarth 500 with enough sass that it talks back at you. But VW’s Polo GTI has... a badge and a clean interior. It never really managed to capture anybody’s imagination as a stock car and isn’t exactly cheap to buy either.
But UK ECU remap specialists Superchips have come with a quick and pretty inexpensive way of turning the Polo GTI into a veritable road rocket.
The standard Polo GTI offers only 180 PS from its 1.4-liter direct injection, petrol turbo / supercharged twincharge engine. But with a bit off Superchips magic, your car will develop 28 PS more (27 bhp) in addition to the gain of 35Nm of torque.
The Superchips Polo GTI ECU upgrade requires installation at one of approximately 80 Superchips performance centers and is covered by a full Customer Service Guarantee and a warranty. Priced at GBP455 (€550) including VAT, the ECU remap is already available.
