The Hemi version of the 1966 Charger wasn’t available from the very beginning, but was introduced as a half model year upgrade that many people actually liked, particularly thanks to the power output of the new engine.
But because it arrived so late, Dodge manufactured only 468 Hemi Chargers in 1966, so finding one isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to do these days.
And yet, here’s one that has been fully restored and that you can purchase right now from eBay.
The model right here is one of the 468 Hemi Chargers built in 1966, so it’s powered by the 426ci (7.0-liter) engine that generated 425 horsepower (Gross SAE). It features the same bronze metallic exterior and the car has received just one repaint since it left the factory. This means it’s not the original paint, but it’s pretty much the closest it can get right now.
Fast Lane Classic Cars, which sells the Charger on eBay, says this one had just one owner until 2003. Only two Californian families owned it until 2019, they claim.
Needless to say, the spec sheet includes a “correct” black bucket seat interior, rear bucket seats, 15-inch American Racing Wheels with BF Goodrich Radial tires, a recently-rebuilt carburetor, and the original AM radio.
The car has just 28,241 miles (45,499 kilometers) on the clock, and the seller explains this is the “original” mileage. In other words, they guarantee the odometer hasn’t been hacked, which can only be good news given it’s a 54-year-old car.
Given all of these, you really shouldn’t expect the Charger to come cheap. The current price on eBay is $82,500, but despite not being an auction, Fast Lane Classic Cars still accepts other offers and you can use the “Make Offer” button on the page linked above to get in touch with the seller.
