Based on the all new Lexus RC F, the Japanese Super GT RC F model took part in its first race last month on the Okayama International Circuit. Unfortunately it won’t be the real orange and mean looking Eneos Sustina RC F, but an exact replica at a 1/10 scale, which was just revealed at the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2014.
As its name suggests, the show at Shizuoka is the place to be if you like scale models, especially functional radio controlled ones; from bikes to robots and huge ships, the show has it all and we couldn’t have noticed the orange Super GT Lexus among the top new releases.
The outer shell was designed to be used with the TB-04 platform, which is in fact an all-wheel-drive one. In case you first hear about custom radio controlled models, there are multiple “rolling chassis” available on which you can fit the outer shell, in this case the Eneos Sustina RC F.
And if you thought these are just some toys for older guys, check out how complex one of those chassis are, having a central drive shaft, differentials at each end and a fully adjustable suspension.
The one in the video bellow is actually a limited edition TB-04 PRO, which has upgraded parts for increasing the handling. Why would you need handling on these scale models? Simply because there are groups of people which take this very serious as a hobby and often like to meet and race their models.
Both the chassis and the Lexus shell will be soon available to purchase from Tamiya.
