The all-new 2015 Subaru WRX and Subaru WRX STI have been quite popular since going on sale earlier this year. The performance sedans have done a good job impressing just about all media outlets by dominating vehicle comparisons, but this success is obvious in the cars’ sales, which are currently on a waiting list of at least three months.
According to BoldRide, sales of the WRX and WRX STI are so hot that most dealers are only being allocated a handful (8-10) of the sedans each month. As if these cars aren’t rare enough in dealer showrooms, the report also indicates that numbers of the limited-edition WRX STI are dwindling rapidly with only 75 of the 1,000 units still for sale.

In terms of overall sales, the combined sales for the WRX and WRX STI are just a drop in the bucket for Subaru. Last month, Subaru moved 2,005 of these sedans putting it well ahead of the BRZ but well behind all other models along with year-to-date sales of 15,240 compared to a total of 283,722 sales overall for Subaru through July.

That being said, though, the year-over-year sales increase of 38.24 percent trails only the red-hot Subaru Forester, which is up 46.77 percent this year. Subaru says that it has sold some 1.1 million Forester crossovers to date, with July not only marking the 12th straight month of more than 10,000 sales for this model but also the Forester’s strongest sales month ever. The Legacy, Outback and XV Crosstrek all posted double-digit sales gains over last year as well, while the BRZ and XV Crosstrek posted their strongest single month of sales ever.

With a full lineup of popular models backed up by the high demand, it’s not surprise that last month was the best sales month ever for Subaru with 45,714, breaking a record previously set back in March.
