Subaru Legacy GTk Unveiled at SEMA 2009

Subaru of America seems to be in a really good shape this year at SEMA, showcasing plenty of contraptions, among which there is also the Legacy GTk, a concept of a track-ready sport wagon, which aims to be “the perfect car for a family day at the track” thanks to an “added bonus” in the cargo area.

The ‘bonus’ refers to a Coyote Motorsports XP kart (and now you know what the ‘k’ in GTk stands for), ready for the autocross track. The cargo area is therefore large enough to haul a complete race kart, which weighs about 160 lbs.

Finished in a custom black-over-red paint scheme, the project features plenty of modified parts, including the liftgate spoiler, midgate spoiler, blackout style HID headlights, front air dam with fog lights, side hood vents, custom window tint and smoked tail lights and a diffuser at the rear.

Power comes from a 2.5-liter turbocharged and intercooled engine, a modified exhaust system and reprogrammed ECU, that develops 300 hp and is mated to a new new 6-speed manual transmission, borrowed from a 2010 Legacy 2.5GT Sedan. Connecting all this power to the road are the BF Goodrich P245/50 R19 Force-KDW 2 tires mounted to HRE custom 19-inch Comp wheels.

Inside, the Legacy GTk boasts a full custom Ultrasuede and leather trimmed interior, including Recaro Sportster custom front seats and custom matching rear seats.

The Legacy GTk instrument panel and doors feature carbon fiber patterned trim. The harman/kardon custom surround-sound audio system drives 18 speakers with an 11-channel high efficiency GreenEdge processor/amplifier, controlled via an AM/FM/XM/single-CD head unit with a 7-inch touch-screen display.
