Subaru Forester Achieves “Snowsport” First in UK

In order to better draw attention to their Forester model and its off-road capabilities, Subaru of UK recently came with an interesting and inspiring idea to take the car out for ski trip in both the south of England and the north of Scotland on the same day and using a single tank of fuel.

And they’ve succeeded. This unique challenge was a first in the United Kingdom in terms of snowsport-related achievements and returned objective real-world fuel efficiency results. The Forester equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive proved more than able to do the job, especially in the severe snow conditions encountered up in the Highlands of Scotland, with the SUV managing an impressive 45 mpg for the entire 480-mile trip.

The journey started from the SnoZone indoor ski center at Xscape, Milton Keyes at 4:00am, and continued with the team setting off for the Cairngorm Mountain Resort, where they arrived at 2:25pm. During the journey north, the car was equipped with all the required snow and ski kit and sat comfortably at motorway speed limits.

“We had no doubts that the Forester would be the perfect support vehicle for this snowy challenge. It is one of the cleanest and most fuel-efficient SUV’s available, has ample space for passengers and luggage, and its All-Wheel-Drive capability and revised suspension make light work of all road surfaces – from motorways to icy country lanes,” said Kenyon Neads, Subaru UK’s Marketing and PR Director.

The 2010 model year Subaru Forester comes with a revised suspension with uprated springs and dampers, more suitable for motorway driving and twisty A and B roads.
