Subaru has released a brand new commercial for the BRZ sports coupe, and it’s got nothing to do with 50/50 weight distribution, the boxer engine or a low center of gravity. Instead, they went for the usual drama approach, as in teary eyed family fights. In fact, if we were betting men, we’d say these are actual characters from a drama, since they make so many in Japan.
The father, son and Subaru theme starts with a little boy playing with a car-shaped keychain. His father lets him check out the car and a bond is formed. When he’s older, they get into a huge fight and the son runs away from home.
A few years pass and he brings his girlfriend home to meet the parents. His mother welcomes him and tell him father is in “the usual place” meaning by his beloved old Subaru. But he’s not, as he’s actually checking out the brand new BRZ.
But the BRZ brings them back together, and the father even describes the BRZ as being a “good car”. Happy end!
