We’ve now seen all three versions of the Toyobaru sports coupe, and with the Subaru BRZ making its debut at the 2011 Toyota Motor Show, it’s time to see what’s behind the name, and if the car is any good.
Until we get our greedy little hand on the car next year, we’ll have to make due with this first impression provided by Japanese driver Tetsuya Yamano, a popular GT300 class racer, who runs his driving school. He’s one the touring car championship from 2004 to 2006, so we should trust him on the matter.
According to Yamano, the BRZ is really direct and provides plenty of feedback through the wheel. The 2.0-liter boxer engine is well sorted for track work and it makes a great intake sound.
The BRZ is also quiet when cruising at about 100 km/h (62 mph). He describes it as being one of those cars that make you feel like you’re going fast because of how low you sit.
