Despite the conservative ECU that limits the 2015 Corvette Z06’s power delivery and the few recalls the C7 Corvette Stingray was subjected to in the current year, the Vette is a gorgeous sportscar to say the least. And apparently, its styling cues will be adopted by Chevrolet future lineup of models.
Before we hopped in the 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray Z51 to see how fast it is and how it handles, we were mesmerized by the way the seventh-gen is looking in the flesh. It’s downright gorgeous thanks to its long, sculpted hood, wide radiator grille, LED daytime running lights and modern rear fascia.
Trust us - it’s not the LT1/LT4’s exhaust noise that will attract your attention on the street, but the silhouette and small details designers bestowed upon the C7 Corvette Stingray. And good gracious - a recent report published by AutomotiveNews informs that the Vette’s jaw-dropping styling will find its way on the next crop of cars wearing the golden bowtie.
Speaking to the aforementioned publication, GM global design boss Ed Welburn declared: "As [the next-gen] Malibu and Cruze and Volt come to market, you'll be able to see a subtle link between some of the form vocabulary for all of them and Corvette.” According to Ed's words, General Motors will certainly push the C7’s styling language to the 2016 Volt and the upcoming replacements for the Cruze and Malibu.
Welburn also mentioned that "I always look at the hood of the Corvette and the sectioning, the way it's taut, very lean, very sporty... That will be a part of really everything we do for Chevrolet...” Looking back at the November reveal of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt’s smiling face, here’s hope General Motors will go with the wide grin-like lower radiator grille on all of its future models.
