We can probably all agree the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is one of the most underappreciated cars of the last two decades despite ticking all the boxes of what most people consider to be the quintessential Italian sports car slash gran turismo.
The 8C came with a naturally-aspirated 4.7-liter Ferrari V8 producing 450 horsepower, but despite featuring one of the best engines on this planet, it's actually the exterior design that manages to steal the show. Whether it's the coupe or the Spyder version, the two-seater from Alfa Romeo looks nothing short of perfect.

Or so you would have thought until Touring Superleggera released the Disco Volante back in 2013. The Italian coachbuilder somehow managed to make the gorgeous 8C Competizione even more stunning by giving it a pronounced retro vibe.

Three years later, the Spyder version of the "Flying Saucer" was introduced, and between the limited access to Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione (of which only 500 were ever made) donors and what must have been an exorbitant price, only seven of these were ever made.

That means this classified ad is a rare chance to own a very special piece of automotive history - one that looks and sounds sublime. The weird thing about the Disco Volante Spyder listed by the Niki Hasler dealership in Switzerland is its exterior color. The British Racing Green finish would make a Jaguar badge seem more suited, and yet this thing is more Italian than pizza, pasta, and exaggerated hand gesturing combined.

As is usually the case, the interior hasn't aged as well as the exterior. It seems to present itself in pristine condition despite the 16,000 kilometers (nearly 10,000 miles) on the odometer, and it even has some green leather and Alcantara accents matching the paint, but the 8C's dashboard is showing its age. Plus, all that plastic doesn't look like what you would expect from a vehicle that sold for $300,000 when it was new.

Speaking of money, the price for this Disco Volante isn't public, so anyone interested will have to send an inquiry. However, given what we said above and what the Disco Volante conversion must have added to that, expect it to be pretty high. This probably won't sway your decision one way or another, but it's worth pointing out the car comes with a six-piece matching set of luggage that, hopefully, fits in the convertible's small trunk.
