The original 1972 Honda CB750 was not that much of a looker. With a rather flat and inexpressive design, the '72 CB750 can though make a great staring point of you feel like adding your own touch of creativity to the bike. And even more, if the ones making the modifications are the Indonesia-based Studio Motor, then results may be more than one expects.
Honda CB750 was the first production motorcycle with a 4-in-line engine, and most bike-historians tend to believe that it was this machine to coin the term “superbike”. So Studio Motor turning the rather ugly '72 CB750 into a sparkling cafe-racer red jewel was just small surprise.
The first stage was to get rid of all the original bodywork, fuel tank included. And starting with the naked bike Studio Motor went off to build everything in 1.2mm sheet metal for a completely custom look. The results are simply stunning, with the high-grade candy red varnish paint job making the bike stand from the crowd.
The bike was shod with classic Firestone tires and the 5-spoke Comstar rims were retained. With the fork being borrowed from a Suzuki Bandit 400, the brakes were also replaced due to Suzuki's superior stopping power. Exhausts were also revised and the bike has finally gotten a new character.
Not sure how nice does it fair as space for travel of the wheel seems a bit on the low side, but visually, the Studio Motor Honda CB750 is more than pleasing.
