Jammed Throttle Sends Iowa Woman on Scary 120 MPH Highway Blast

We have heard stories like this one before (involving a Renault Vel Satis, a few years back), but actually having such an event caught on camera and then commentated was really interesting. So, Lauri Ulvestad, a 47 year-old woman from Iowa noticed that the accelerator pedal of her 2011 Kia Sorento SUV had jammed - her car was accelerating out of control.
She managed to call 911 and the police attempted to carve out a path for the out-of-control SUV. She narrowly misses several cars, while also being forced to take the Sorento off-road - good thing she was at the wheel of something with decent suspension travel, because otherwise the bumps from the side of the road could have destabilized and ultimately rolled the vehicle.

She managed to stop after some 94 km (59 miles) of terror - she got out and hugged the closest police officer. Des Moines news group KCCI-TV got a statement from Lauri. She said "I knew I was going to die [ . . . ] I didn't have any doubt about. I really thought I was going to die ... and no matter what I did, I couldn't slow it down."

We expect this incident to prompt some sort of recal or a lawsuit, or both.
