Stripeless Lava Orange Porsche 911 R Is Dangerously Close to the GT3 RS

Sure, anybody can do whatever they please with their 2017 Porsche 911 R, but when the owner of such a Zuffenhausen machine chooses to dress up his rear-wheel drive coupe in Lava Orange, we simply can't let this pass without talking about it.

As Porsche aficionados know, we're dealing with a shade that served as the GT3 RS PDK's launch color. And when the R came to correct the PDK-only mistake of the Rennsport Neunelfer, pulling such a visual stunt is almost like trolling.

The Lava Orange hue is just a part of the eye candy

While Lava Orange is overly spectacular in itself, the fact that the stripes have been skipped helps the hue stand out even more. Yes, the "Porsche" decals on the doors are there, but these don't count.

That's because we're referring to the stripes adorning to the top panels of the car, which have been nothing short of an opinion splitter (no aerodynamic pun intended) ever since the 911 R was launched back in March at the Geneva Motor Show. The controversy hasn't been entirely eliminated from this Neunelfer, though, as the car is gifted with the clear taillights.

Regardless, when you work with Porsche Exclusive, the automaker's personalisation arm, to have your R covered in such a color, they key fob simply can't remain standard, as you'll notice in two of the images to your right.

Even the dealer that delivered this supercar has a special story. We're talking about Porsche Exchange, an Illinois-based specialist that has recently delighted us with another special 911 R delivery. And when we say that, we're referring to a trio of Rs, including a White (obviously), a Yellow, as well as a Black car.

In case you missed the 911 R triumvirate story, you can check it out here. The stripes are on the house.
