Samara is the sixth largest city in Russia. It's also the name of a funny little Lada hatchback, but that has nothing to do with our story of the day.
Since the Russian winter has finally let up, the snow and ice is mealting, but this is no cause of joy. Photos taken in recent weeks show ground water or soil dekay is causing Samara's roads to vanish. We're not talking about a pothole here and there, we're talking about holes that will swallow a whole buss or truck!

The craters are appearing in parking lots, intersections, by the sides of roads, on major and minor thoroughfares. Russian roads were never something to be prowd of, but this is seriously life-threatening stuff, and we're told loss of life is being reported in at least one crash.

The citizens of the city have signed a petition to save their city from this crisis from below.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
