You know those busy intersections that will keep you waiting for the green light enough minutes to get angry? Well, at least in Germany they got Streetpong to cure that. And no, this won't reward your patience with beer and sausages.
What you’ll see here is very real and it actually happens at one intersection in Hildesheim, Germany. Actually, this is one of those intersection where you need to push a button on a yellow box to stop the traffic and allow you and other pedestrians to cross the street.
But it now comes with a smartphone-sized touchscreen that lets you play pong as soon as you hit the cross-demanding button. And the good things don’t stop here, because if another person has to wait for the same thing on the other side of the road, you can actually play together.
All thanks to a group of students that came with the idea in 2012 and built the first prototype last year. They have actually started a small business trying to fit the Streetpong devices in as many intersections as possible, to keep people busy and don’t try crossing the street during a red light.
