These past couple of weeks have been very bad for the Ferrari 812 Superfasts of the world. Another example of Ferrari’s most powerful car has crashed and was probably totaled, and bad weather is taking the fall for it again.
In this particular case, it’s Storm Christoph that’s getting blamed. On January 19, just as Storm Christoph was starting to wreak havoc across the UK and was about to cause massive flooding in several regions in the country, one Ferrari 812 Superfast ended up on its roof, on the side of the road, in West Yorkshire, England, just outside of Leeds.
According to Highways England, the one-vehicle crash occurred on the M621 highway on the anticlockwise section between junctions. The 812 Superfast went through a protective barrier and landed on the roof, sustaining considerable damage, as one can make out from the one photo released to the public.
“Storm Christoph 1 - Ferrari 0,” reads the tweet accompanying the photo. The lanes had to be closed while the vehicle was being recovered.
The only silver lining was that this was a one-vehicle collision and, somewhat surprisingly, that the driver of the Ferrari wasn’t hurt. His ego doesn’t count, assuming he ever gets to read the comments to the original tweet or to the posts covering the crash in the media. To put it delicately, pretty much everyone is saying that he was driving too fast for the road and weather conditions, which made him lose control and crash the 800 hp car.
This is also what happened to the other 812 Superfast totaled the week before in Linguria, Italy, this time belonging to Genoa FC goalkeeper Federico Marchetti. He had dropped it off to have it professionally cleaned after a week of heavy rains, and the car wash professional was instructed to drive it afterward to the Genoa training facility. He never made it there, crashing it on the way in five parked cars and a metal barrier, and totaling it.
In a very surprising show of chivalry, a reportedly furious Marchetti later went to his social media to urge his fans to stand back and leave the poor car wash guy alone, because they’d been saying very nasty things about him online.

#M621 anti-clockwise J1 #Beeston to J27 #M62 lane 1 is currently closed to facilitate the recovery of vehicles involved in a collision.
