Stolen Indy 500 Chevrolet Camaro Driven Out the Dealership’s Window

The 2015 model year in SS Convertible format will serve as the Indy 500’s official Festival Car. In the competition’s 99-year history, this is the first time a small lot of Indy 500 special edition cars have been produced for customers that want a piece of Chevy and Indianapolis 500.

Out of the 100 examples produced and delivered to dealers around Indianapolis, one of them has been totaled on April 8th at around 11:30 PM local time.

Bill Estes Chevrolet and the local police report that the thief is still at large. If you have a lead on who damaged this rarefied breed of the 2015 Camaro, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.

So what the hell happened to this poor muscle car?

According to Bill Estes Chevy, an incident occurred on Wednesday night (April 8th), someone breaking inside the dealership. Inside was the Indy 500 Camaro SS in question, with the still unidentified thief deciding to take this baby for a joyride through the showroom window.

Yep, the giant plate glass was shattered and the vehicle was driven down some stairs too.

WTHR reports that the thief took the Indianapolis 500-themed 2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS drop top into town. After some miles, the Chevy Camaro eventually gave in to the damage it initially sustained.

Robert Musgrave of Zionsville Police declared to the WTHR that the police still has “no clue whether it was a teenager or whether it was an adult, we don't know if they were intoxicated, on drugs... we have no clue.”

Still, a $49,180 limited-run muscle car is no longer with us, and that’s a bit of a shame. Want to hear the most depressing part of this story? A “SOLD” sticker can be seen inside the Indy 500 Camaro...
