The truck we have here may not be the 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera that fetched an impressive $1.95 million at auction recently, but there’s a lot of history with this old pickup truck, apparently. First of all, The King of Cool used the vehicle for cross-country camping trips. Secondly, it was the last vehicle to transport the iconic actor from his Santa Paula home to the Ventura County Airport on November 3rd, 1980.
The 1952 Chevrolet Custom one ton truck is currently on eBay and judging by the number of bidders it won’t stay like that for much longer. Even if you won’t be the one to buy it, we figured it was nice talking about a different car for a change, other than sportscars and two-seaters the famous car aficionado drove during his life.

According to the ad, the truck first sold at the Steve McQueen Estate Auction November 24-25, 1984 at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. It includes the original engine, body, frame and Forest Green paint, which is quite impressive considering we’re dealing with a 63-year-old unrestored vehicle.

Other features include a 6-cylinder engine, 4-speed transmission, 5-gallon gas tanks on running boards, a driver’s side spotlight, sun visor and two toolboxes. In case you’re a skeptical person, you need not worry - the truck comes with the original California Title in Steve McQueen’s name and the certificate of authenticity from The Steve McQueen Estate Sale back in 1984.

As most of the cars owned by the Hollywood star, this vehicle will also help those in need. A portion of the auction's proceeds will be donated to The Boys Republic in Chino Hills California, the school McQueen himself attended and supported throughout his life.

If we were to sell it to you, performance and speed are not the features we’d mention, but the fact it retains McQueen-era cosmetic patina.
