Not long until the 2018 Pebble Concours d’Elegance kicks off this Sunday, and you would have thought that carmakers attending the event are done presenting their entries. Some, like McLaren, are a bit slower at that, it seems.
There was, of course, no chance for the British car builder to miss a Concours, As usual, this year’s presence of the company on American shores will be spearheaded by the infamous McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

For the show, MSO worked its magic on a 600LT, which is to be presented for the first time on the Concept Lawn. And, as usual with such reinterpretations of series McLarens, the uniqueness of the car comes from its looks.

The 600LT is painted in a color MSO calls Stealth Grey and features a countless selection of upgrades from both the MSO Defined catalogue and the MSO Bespoke customer choices. It's like the group packed all the extras it could in the car, making it, in fact, a display case.

Take, for instance, the McLaren F1 Longtail-inspired roof scoop, placed there to act like a fully functional air intake that provides the people inside with a unique sound while the car is in motion. As usual with McLaren cars, carbon fiber can be seen all over, including in the rear bumper or front fender louvres.

There’s no escaping carbon fiber at the interior either, as MSO splashed it on the central tunnel and door insert panels. The racing seats are taken from the McLaren Senna and are, of course, made of carbon fiber.

Under the hood, nothing changed compared to the regular 600LT presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. The car packs 600 ps coming from the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8. That’s enough to provide for 2.8 seconds acceleration from naught to sixty.

“For this special 600LT we have combined a sprinkling of both to create a car that showcases the lightness and track-focused performance of this latest Longtail variant,” said in a statement MSO director Ansar Ali.

No pricing for the special model was announced.
