Startech Brings Opulently Tuned SUVs To The 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show

Tuning is big business since, well, a long time ago. Nowadays, the aftermarket scene covers all echelons of the automotive industry, including the luxury SUV segment. That’s what Startech is all about, and rather unsurprisingly, the German tuning shop brought a lot of opulent sport utility vehicles at Frankfurt.

Arguably the most expensive Startech exhibit at IAA 2017 is the Bentley Bentayga, which currently stands at the top of the luxury SUV segment. Costing $230,000 without even looking at the options list, the Bentayga gets mind-bendingly expensive once the Bottrop-based outfit gets its hand on it.

The front bumper, including the carbon fiber bits and bobs? That’s €3,392 excluding fitment. The 18-piece widebody kit and 23-inch Monostar S bi-tone wheels? €10,115 and €3,272 a pop, not including the 30-mm spacers. Startech touches also include the circular four-tip exhaust, rear diffuser, and illuminated tread plates. All in all, the lavishness is strong with this Bentayga.

Joining it on stage at the Frankfurt Motor Show is a tuned Range Rover with gold-painted wheels, accompanied by the smaller Sport model with a conspicuous roof spoiler. Then there’s the all-new Land Rover Discovery, which sports aftermarket front and rear bumpers that hamper down on the SUVs off-road capability. Last, but certainly not least, Startech murdered out the Maserati Levante, making it look fitting for Batman in a parallel universe.

Owned by Brabus, Startech’s only world premiere for the IAA 2017 is the fifth-generation Discovery. Equipped with 22-inch Monostar M wheels all around and Continental 295/40 R22 low-profile tires, the tuned Landie further boasts trapezoidal exhaust tips. As ridiculous as the rear bumper is, the shop says that it can install a trailer coupling if the owner wishes so.

Probably the most ridiculous upgrade is the SoundXTRA V8 Sound system, which makes the 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel Discovery sound as if it’s powered by a muscly V8. Including value-added tax, the system costs €1,490.
