SSike, an Electric Scooter Doing 40 km with 5 Cents

Enter the SSike, another Spanish EV design destined for cross-town commuting, sporting a neat, funny look and top-drawer performance specs, offered at a very affordable price. Riding the SSike daily to work or school will most likely save you money for another one in the first year or so.

The SSike is infintely more fun than being stranded in a traffic jam for hours each day. It will allow people to get from A to B way faster because it can go anywhere a traditional scooter can: alleys and sidewalks, parks, metro and all.

You get a 20 km/h (12.4 mph) max speed and 120 minutes of use, making the range of the SSike comparable to a lot of similar electric vehicles. However, the folding design adn 12 kg (26 lbs) weight make it easy to carry it up the stairs.. and you can't to this with a casual electric scooter.

SSike moves by means of a 250W brushless motor and a 40V 6Ah LiFePO4 battery offering more than 2000 cycles. Zero maintenance and ultra-bright LED lighting make the SSike even more convenient, while the rear-wheel steering grants unbelievable maneuverability to the user, making it suitable for crowded places, too.

Regenerative brakes and anodized aluminium body work (carbon fiber is optional) are making the SSike well worth the €1,390 ($1,830) + VAT price tag, considering what you pay on electricity to charge it. And no parking fees!
