We have to start this piece of news with a warning: the adjacent video is the kind of footage that makes every automotive enthusiast wish he or she was there when the action was shot. We are talking about a video that shows the Shelby Super Cars (SSC) team out testing the new gear ratios for the Tuatara hypercar tech package hidden inside the Ultimate Aero prototype.
You can see the hypercar, which aims to become the fastest set of production wheels in the world (yes, this means that it wants to steal the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s crown) sprinting from standstill to 200 mph (322 km/h).
Here’s what SSC had to say about the testing session: “Testing showed that 2nd gear starts achieved the best test results as SSC averaged 6 individual 0-200 mph test runs, each unofficially clocked under 16 seconds. SSC was surprised at how quickly the Ultimate Aero reached 200 mph, but more importantly the team has now determined what they feel is the perfect gear ratios for the new 7-speed Tuatara transmission."
