SsangYong is trying to show us the beauty, despite not being found in the eye of any beholder, is not everything. The company recently launched an ambulance version of the Rodius crossover in the UK.
This is based on the four-wheel drive Rodius EX and is marketed as an off-road ambulance, with the first unit going to a paramedic that covers off-road competitions. The carmaker brags that the vehicle offers all the right kind of assets, sich as a smooth ride, low loading access, as well as interior space and rear air conditioning. The SsangYong Rodius Ambulance comes with a price of GBP23,000 (EUR28,618 or USD36,000), using a 2,7-liter diesel engine, as well as a 4x4 system with a low range.
"Working with David [the aforementioned paramedic] and our suppliers we also designed a strong, lightweight and secure storage system for all the equipment needed. It is practical, versatile, well finished and all at a highly competitive price. The installation is also easily demounted to convert the ambulance back to being a comfortable family MPV," said Said Dean Wood, partner of Firs SsangYong.
