Ssangyong New Chairman H Presented in Seoul

The Seoul Motor Show is getting ready to wrap up this weekend, following several days or rather less exciting premieres. The venue has been for automakers like Ssangyong the perfect one to present the models meant to bring back the former glory on the home turf.

Known mostly as an SUV manufacturer, Ssangyong decided to show that it can still build sedans like any of the other more famous automakers, so it took the opportunity to introduce the New Chairman H, the third generation of the model introduced a few years back.

The introduction of the New Chairman H comes just months after the South Korean automaker was taken over by Mahindra, and it is not bringing any major changes to the powertrains (judging by the fact that the engine options were not yet made public). Created more as a facelift, the new interpretation of the sedan is packed with cutting-edge technology.

Worthy of the name flagship sedan, the model comes equipped with safety features like Emergence Stop Signal Hill Start Assist and ESP system. Interior comfort is insured with the help of natural leather seating, speed-sensing power steering system, Smart key messages, 3.5 inch Dot Matrix Type LCD that shows tire direction and a multi-function super vision cluster with DIS delivers pinpoint system control.

"The newly released New Chairman H premium sedan enhances the luxury and class of the Chairman series, which has grown to become Korea's representative brand. Going forward, we are excited about developing into a global auto company and establishing ourselves as a world renowned brand through our strategic partnership with Mahindra," said Ssangyong CEO Yoo-il Lee.

Pricing and market availability of the new model were also not made public.
