SsangYong C200 Aero and Eco Concepts Get Real in Seoul

SsangYong has just debuted the C200 Aero and Eco concepts at the Seoul Motor Show. First displayed at the Paris Auto Show last year, SsangYong C200 is expected to go on sale in the United Kingdom in about one year but details are fairly scarce at this time. Nevertheless, we do know the model will enter production later this year.

The South Korean automaker calls the C200 a CUV - compact urban vehicle - and says it will offer a choice of three engine configurations, each of them particularly interested in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

Although large vehicles are quite unpopular these days, the C200 is fairly pretty, partially thanks to Giugiaro's ItalDesign studio who's responsible for the appearance of the car.

Speaking of the available engine units, the C200 comes with either a 2.0-liter turbodiesel version that puts out as much as 175 horsepower or a 1.8-liter gasoline variant, with power output still unclear. The C200 Eco relies on a diesel-hybrid engine, with technical details unknown as well. There are two transmission types available, a six-speed manual and an automatic, plus all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive.

Fuel efficiency figures are unavailable at this point but the South Korean car manufacturer says it expects fuel consumption and CO2 emissions reduced by 50 percent in the Eco.

The C200 has a a 2.65m wheelbase with an overall length of 4.4m, according to technical details released by SsangYong. Equipment levels and safety features are yet to be released but the parent company says the car will undergo Euro NCAP crash testing just before the official launch on the market.
