It will be a dear first if the upcoming BMW M4 Convertible will come out wearing a frozen paint job as standard. Don’t get your hopes up though.
Despite the fact that the upcoming model was caught testing in a beautiful shade of Frozen Red paint, the color will, most likely, be available through the Individual program at a seriously high prices (probably somewhere around $5,000).
Even so, for some people it will be worth it, as the new M car looks brilliant dressed like this. To put things in perspective you should take a look at the spyshots posted below where there’s also a ‘dull’ Mineral White model and, by comparison, it doesn’t hold a candle to the more ‘exotic’ drop top.
As for the specs, don’t expect any changes, the same 3-liter biturbo engine will be used with the same power output and torque (431 HP/550 Nm) but, considering the added weight of the folding roof, the performance will be a little less dramatic.
At the moment, we don’t have any official info on just how much slower the car’s going to be but, my guess is that a maximum of 0.2 seconds difference is quite probable. Therefore, as the standard Coupe does 4.1 seconds to 62 mph, the drop top might just do it in 4.3, just as fast as the much more powerful M6 Coupe. Production of the Coupe started today and the Convertible might follow this autumn.
