The Toyota Yaris is a still a new car to its European buyers, having been launched onto the supermini market in 2011. But with all the design changes they've made to the Keen Look design language, the little 5-door just doesn't belong any more.
That's why, they've started work on the facelift for the Yaris. We caught up to this prototype as it was testing at a secret facility in Europe, where Toyota also develops the new Aygo. Because the car is so heavily camouflaged, we can't really tell what they're changing. But we think the headlights will get a complete makeover, probably accompanies by a chrome grille.

Toyota has a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine in Asia that it has never offered its European customers. Also, the 1.4-liter D-4D rated at 90 PS emits 103 g/km of CO2, tantalizingly close to that 100 threshold that makes everything good in the fleet car world.

The Yaris will most likely be pulled from the US market and replaced with a Mazda2 derivative, so this French-built car is basically a Euro-only supermini.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
