Spyshots: Skoda Misson-L Production Mid-Size Saloon

It’s been ages since Skoda unveiled the MissionL Concept in September 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We really expected the budged car to be on the market by now, since Europe is in desperate need of a budged car for the whole family.

The car is already available in India, where it’s produced on a local level. When it reaches the European market, this new sedan will cost from €13,000. For that sort of money, you’ll get yourself a 1.2-liter TSI from the Fabia with 85 hp. Of course, the will be a full engine range coming with other petrol and diesel units, which will most likely arrive with start-stop.

This Skoda version of the Polo Sedan will most likely debut this summer in the domestic Czech market. It will sit in the model range between the Fabia and the Octavia. It’s likely not based on the new MQB platform, but it will still be relatively light and frugal.

Update: As some of my have noticed, we got this a bit wrong. This is too big to be the Rapid, and the C-pillar structure is completely different. No, this is a new mid-size model from the Czech carmaker, while the Rapid is a compact.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
