A quick check of SEAT's press releases will reveal they describe the new Leon ST estate model as the best thing since sportscars: "demonstrates that thrilling sporting character and exceptional everyday usability do not have to be mutually exclusive."
If SEAT gets so excited about a rebadged VW Golf with a maximum of 184 PS, imagine how they will feel when this car comes out. Taking the chassis of the Leon ST, the Spaniards have added the big 2-liter TSI engine from the Golf GTI.
Rumor has it that in order to differentiate the Leon Cupra from the GTI and Octavia vRS, this Spanish model will have more power, either 250 or 260 PS. Electronics will simulate a limited slip differential and transmission choices will include both manual and DSG gearboxes.
For bragging right, we expect them to offer more power than the Ford Focus ST Estate, its one and only rival, which packs a 2-liter EcoBoost with 250 PS. Mind you, SEAT is probably going after the FWD Nurburgring record, so some serious performance is being planned here.
Expect a full debut of the Leon Cupra range at next year's Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
