The Rolls Royce Phantom spawned the Drophead convertible version, which is about the closest you can get to a land yacht. Now though, the marque is placing emphasis on the Ghost, which is attracting a whole new clientele. It too will spawn a two-door version, which is expected to become the Corniche reincarnated for the 21st century.
We say it’s to be called the Corniche because that’s the name that BMW trademarked recently. We don’t know that for sure, but it will be a two-door coupe for certain. Or will it?
The prototype appears to have four door handles, two on each side, as well as a B-pillar ahead of the two smaller rear doors. But it’s all fake, as is the twin grille which is made to look like a BMW’s.
Power will no doubt come from the same twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 engine used by the regular Ghost, putting out 563 horsepower.
The prototype shows a low-slung body for the drop-dead gorgeous coupe, but the suspension will no doubt be the kind that waft you along in total hydraulic comfort.
