At the 2010 Paris Motor Show, French carmaker introduced us to its vision of the future, which was a range of electric cars sized from tiny to relatively big. The most practical proposition they had is this, the Clio-sized Zoe, which our spy photographers captured out and about in Norther Sweden as it was undergoing winter testing on a specially prepared track.
The Zoe supermini should arrive somewhere in the middle of this year. Renault is pinning most of its hopes of market success on the car, of which it expects to sell 150,000 units per year when deliveries get underway.
The production Zoe will probably come with brand new technology for the engine and battery. But the 2010 concept version came with a 60 kW (80 horsepower) electric motor that also produces 222 Nm (164 lb-ft) of torque.
The preview form we saw two years ago showed a hatchback concept that was 4.10 m long (161 inch), 1.788 m (70.4 inch) wide and 1.54 m (60.63 inch) high.
Interestingly enough, Renault has already pledged to offer a hotter version of the Zoe, offering about 134 hp and 271 Nm of torque. Now that’s the sort of EV we look forward to, since the Twingo RS is getting a bit dry in what it has to offer.
