With the next generation of the Clio just around the corner, we’re taking the opportunity created by a fresh set of spyshots showing just a test mule version to talk about the direction in which Renault wants to take the car.
We’ve heard that the Clio IV will be turned by the French into a sort of Euro chic design icon to rival the MINI and Fiat 500. To this end, a great deal of customer options will be offered to make your Clio a bit different than any other on the road.
The new generation is scheduled to debut at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. Rumor has it that the RenaultSport version will switch from the current 2.0-liter to a turbocharged 1.6-liter developed with Mercedes. This is supposed to make either 210 or 220 horsepower. If you like the idea of a normally aspirated hothatch, the current generation is what you’ll have to buy.
