The Renault Clio-based crossover/SUV has been spotted for the first time. Judging by its looks, it will be very similarly styled to the regular clio, with subtle differences in the front and rear fascias, and, of course, a taller body. Apparently, Renault will not be offering any four-wheel drive variant at all, probably relying on the fact that the raised ground clearance will more than suffice for the city environment for which it is designed - some buyers will undoubtedly miss it, though.
The interior will probably be carried over unchanged, and will be adapted for the crossover’s taller stance. We expect the Clio’s engine range to also be carried over, with its highlights clearly being the TCe 90 engine, as well as the rest of small-capacity petrol and diesel engines that Renault has at its disposal. We’re curious as to whether or not Renault will be making a ‘hot’ version of it, though the likelihood of that happening is sadly very slim - would dent Mini Countryman S sales, though.
Expect to see it in production form at next year’s Geneva Motor Show - it will probably slowly shed its camouflage by then and we’ll have a more complete picture and more details.
