Spyshots: Porsche Carrera 911 GT3 RS

Set to make its official debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show in September, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS was spied while undergoing testing at the Nurburgring track. The photos show the high-performance version of the 911 boasting the same facelift seen on the Coupe, Cabrio, targa and Turbo versions.

The new version will maintain the visual enhancements usually seen on a GT3 version presented at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, including the GT3 RS sticker, the special colored wheels, the decorative stripe, the rear wing endplates and the contrast painted outside mirrors. The RS was also enhanced by the use of LED headlights, wider fenders, deeper side skirts and a rear spoiler.

The Rennsport 911 will use a 3.8l 6 cylinder engine developing 429 horsepower. The 911 GT3 RS will jump from naught to sixty in 4 seconds and top at a maximum speed of 300 km/hour.

The vehicle is purpose built for week-end racetrack enthusiasts, so it boasts features that will enable it to cope well with racing conditions. The total weight of the vehicle has been reduced, thanks to features such as polycarbonate rear window and carbon fiber hood, while the rear spoiler, also made out of carbon fiber, is fully adjustable.

The price tag on the Porsche Carrera 911 GT3 RS will be, rumor goes, as high as its performances. The word is that the new car will be priced at around 110,000 euros, but for that money you will get a roll cage with increased bracing and Porsche's PASM dampers, both as standard.
