Opel already has small cars it can sell you, though the facelift has not really managed to lift the appeal of the Corsa outside of Germany. However, they have a brand new citycar with premium ambitions that will soon be launch, ready to fight in the same sort of segment as the Fiat 500.
As you’ll probably know by know, this is a prototype version of the upcoming Allegra (codenamed Junior) seen here while it was undergoing winter testing. The Allegra is one of Opel’s most important cars in a while, and it should be launched some time in the third quarter. Production of the Junior will take place at the Eisenach plant in Germany starting late 2012, with sales beginning in 2013.

“Cars like the Junior will make people realize we are really pushing the Opel brand. If we’d have tried to introduce it before Insignia, it probably wouldn’t have worked. Now we have the quality, and we’re flirting with more character and personality,” says Opel design chief Mark Adams.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
