Spyshots: Opel Adam

Opel didn’t go into business under GM leadership, and it wasn’t even an automaker. The company that Adam Opel founded in 1862 sold and produced sowing machines. But by the beginning of the next century, the company had become a huge maker of bicycles.

Now, the automaker is celebrating its founder with a supermini that will rival the Fiat 500 and is expected to launch this year.

To get ready for the car’s debut, Adam has been busy testing on both normal roads and small, enclosed courses, and also on the Nurburgring.

The new Opel city car will arrive later this year and should start under EUR10,000. But that’s only the base price, as they’ve prepared thousands of color and trim combinations, stickers, pieces of plastic trim and other such nonsense to make you feel special.
