With this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show moving closer as we speak, automakers have started making final preparations to launch their ‘fall-winter collection.’ Naturally, we are talking here about new models, facelifts, concepts and the latest technologies the automotive world screams for.

So is the case with German manufacturer Porsche, who is hard at work perfecting its latest models. Our team of spy photographers were close to the Porsche Stuttgart factory when they ran into a virtually undisguised next-generation Porsche 911 doing a bit of runway roll.

This comes just a few days after the Stuttgart sportscar specialist showed as a teaser video of the car testing in Africa, but keeping performance details to itself. After all, they wouldn’t want to spoil all the fun for when it will officially take the wraps off.

This time we find out that the next 911 will be 4.49 metres long - 56 mm more than the current model with 10 mm extra wheelbase. Furthermore, the much anticipated car will also stand 11 mm shorter.

Also, it seems that the entry-level unit in the range will be the 3.4-liter Boxer engine (down from a 3.6-litre unit) with an output of 350 hp, which allows for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 289 km/h. It is also reported that the smaller, more-efficient unit will reduce fuel-economy by 13 percent to 8.5 l/100 km.

A Carrera S version with 400 hp is also to be available, while the 911 Turbo is rumored to have an output of approximately 542 hp. In addition, buyers of the next generation Porsche 911 will get to choose from a seven-speed manual or an optional seven-speed PDK.
