Skoda has its own way of doing the hot stuff. The last RS model they made was the Fabia RS launched a couple of years ago. It's not the fastest hot supermini, nor the best looking either. But the normal hatchback has the best-in-class boot 300 liters. They've even put the same 1.4-liter turbo engine into a Fabia Combi and the resulting car has 480 liters of boot capacity and will do 226 km/h.
So then, the hot Octavia should be quite a practical car that's also fast. And indeed, that the impression we're getting from this test prototype that was spotted undergoing testing.
The new Octavia RS is built on the same MQB platform as the Golf, Audi A3 and SEAT Leon. Compared to the regular saloon, the RS offers bigger wheels, black grille, tinted headlights and twin exhaust, all desirable features.
But what about the engine? Well, the petrol version will reportedly have 210 horsepower, but for the first time a 2.0-liter diesel will be available as well, producing as much as 180 horsepower for a hot yet economical drive. Practicality, speed, comfort and a big boot – all there!
