The current Peugeot 5008 tried its best to reinvent the way MPVs are viewed when ti was revealed at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. But it couldn’t, so the French are apparently having another crack at it with a test mule already on the prowl in Europe, proving what looks like a wider track.
Compared to the current version seen on the roads of the old continent, this one seems to have been bestowed with wider wheel arches. It will be sold in either five- or seven-seat configurations, with the trunk volume and the roomy interior representing two of the main attributes.
The engine range will benefit from the recent Peugeot developments in start-stop technology, and a diesel-hybrid looks likely. The new 5008 will also be lighter and offer better room inside.
