With coupes, roadsters, convertibles, crossovers and more stuff on the way, MINI's lineup is confusing to say the least. Adding to that confusing is a strange naming system and starting in 2014, a lineup of modular 3- and 4-cylinder engines.
This car isn't complicated at all though. It's just a hatchback with a folding fabric roof. It was the second MINI model BMW launched after the revival and thus crucial and easily identifiable. A new, third generation MINI Convertible will be launched next year. It's basically identical to the hatchback and our latest spyshots can prove that.

The fact that MINI is peeling off the camo from the doors could mean that a debut is imminent. The engines, the platform and all the interior bits and bobs are already revealed. The Cooper and Cooper D models will come with new 3-cylinder turbos, while the Cooper S will for the first time be fitted with a 2-liter. Start-stop, weight savings and better engines will all help make this a more efficient MINI Convertible, while LED lights could make it more attractive.
