Mercedes is taking the opportunity created by new and exciting-looking saloons and coupes to also refurbish its commercial vehicle range and get them ready for new and more stringent emissions standards and regulations in Europe.
These are the first photos of the next generation Vito. In fact it’s a test mule that is also used in all likelihood to develop the new Viano as well. The raised grille and bonnet show an aggressive styling change.
However, this might not be the end look of the vehicle, since it’s uncharacteristic in the segment to have such a protruding front end. It might just be the case that Mercedes is testing a new engine layout, cooling system, or just needs to make room for the diagnostics equipment.
The next Vito and Viano and Vito are expected to debut in 2013 or 2014. There might also be some shared engines with Renault and even some badge engineering or co-development.
