Late last year, we got our first chance to sample the new BMW X5. It's got some new toys for us to play with and is more distinctive, especially at night when the headlights come into full effect. Unfortunately, X6 owners still have some time to go before they can trade in their cars for a newer model.
The second generation Sports Activity Coupe is currently undergoing cold weather testing somewhere in Sweden, where temperatures are at their lowest in the whole of Europe. Taking the X6 to these extremes tests not only its durability but also the xDrive systems BMW prides itself on.
These spyshots show a very similar car to the X5, with headlights merging towards the signature double-kidney grille. From the fact that it has no fog lights and small exhaust tips, we'd say this prototype is one of the 3-liter models and not the V8, but there's just no way of known. The X6 is famously the ActiveHybrid model that flopped and had to be canceled, but this time they will develop a much more efficient eDrive car with pure-EV range and Prius-like fuel consumption.
