As we already told you here, on our BMW dedicated blog, the new FWD platform developed by the Bavarians in collaboration with their Oxford engineers, dubbed UKL, will be spawning all kinds of models.
After the 2014 MINI Cooper will be launched at the 2013 LA Auto Show, Tokyo Show and in a ceremony held at the Oxford HQ in London on monday, the world will get to see another couple new cars from MINI, next year.
We already showed you the hatchback that looks like a direct competitor for the current Countryman but now we’re back with a car that is even closer to the first 5-door model in MINI’s history.
This one seems to be a mule, hiding what looks like a 6-door model, which would be another first for the British and German brands together (BMW never had a 6-door car before either).
According to our spy photographers, the new car is even bigger than what we’re used to, coming close to the 3 Series Touring Bimmer, with huge wheel arches and BMW wheels, as we can see.
At the moment, we don’t have any certain info as to the name this new prototype will have once it enters production but one apelative keeps coming up in the rumor-mill and that’s Spacebox. For the moment we’ll just have to speculate.
One thing’s for sure, there’s another premiere scheduled next year for MINI and that’s the first 6-door model in its history.
