Mercedes may have had a hyperactive year in 2013, launching vehicles like the CLA, revamped E-Class and 2014 S-Class, but the show is far from over. A new generation of the C-Class is coming next and we’ve got a series of spyshots that show its AMG version being tested.
Like many other AMG models, the C-Class will drop the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 in favor of the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo unit. For the C-Class, the engine will probably be slightly downtuned compared to the larger vehicles in the range and the unit is expected to deliver around 500 hp.

There will be a serious performance increase compared to the current model though and this will come thanks to multiple weight-saving measures. Of course, this also means that the vehicle will offer superior efficiency.

However, unlike the rest of the V8 AMGs, the C-Class could change its name, with the C63 AMG being replaced by the C55 AMG.
