Mercedes engineers are currently working overtime to test what has become known as the AMG GT and we’ve recently caught the vehicle in a form that places it closer to production.
This is a pre-production prototype that has lost much of the camo displayed so far, so we can see the actual silhouette of the car. Alas, the details still remain hidden behind the psychedelic camo.
Now that the SLS AMG is gone, with the Final Edition showing up as a 350-unit limited run at the LA Auto Show, the AMG GT is set to take over.
You wouldn’t say that the car would replace the SLS AMG just by looking at it, as it seems more compact. Well, that’s both true and false.
The Germans are planning an extra-wide engine menu that will allow the AMG GT to both replace the SLS AMG and enter a class below it. Sure, this hood is not as long as that of the SLS, but, depending on the version, it’s expected to conceal between 333 and 650 HP, or perhaps a bit over that.
What’s more, now that AMG has developed its own 4Matic system, this could become an option on the AMG GT.
