Just months after The McLaren P1 hypercar made its production model debut in March at the Geneva show, the company has already begun work on a new, likely even more powerful version of the car.
This prototype has been spotted for the very first time at the Nurburgring test track. Surprisingly, the car doesn't hide its identity, displaying "XP2R Prototype Vehicle" on the side for all to see.
Unfortunately, that's where what we know ends and speculation has to begin. The rumor mill holds no secrets regarding the XP2R so we can only presume that McLaren wants something even better to top the LaFerrari and Porsche 918.
The 'standard' P1 has 916 hp from a tuned 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and its electrical witchcraft, but this new car could push the 1000 hp mark.
We couldn't find a single body panel that's different on the car, but maybe you guys can.
